ILA Resources and Technical Services Forum meeting (updated)

When: February 8, 2019, 10 am -Noon

Where: Woodridge Public Library

Please come join us to plan programs for the 2019 ILA Conference. We had a lot of good ideas from the annual meeting that we need to finalize. We will also discuss issues, trends and questions related to technical services and collections work. If you’d like to discuss something specific, feel free to email Joy Anhalt (janhalt@tplibrary.org) with program ideas or questions.

For members attending in person please register via the L2 calendar.

For members who are unable to attend in person there is a web conferencing site called Zoom that is available for use. Please let me (Joy Anhalt) know if you wish to participate via Zoom.

TBS, Inc. Technical Services Award Reminder

This is a reminder that the nominations deadline for the TBS, Inc. Technical Services Award is next Tuesday, May 15th. Please see information from the original posting below for more information and instructions for nominees:

The TBS, Inc. Technical Services Award committee is looking for a librarian who demonstrates a commitment to leadership, programming and professional development in the Technical Services field.  The nominee must be a personal ILA member or work at a library with an institutional membership.
This award is presented each year by the ILA Resources and Technical Services Forum and sponsored by Today’s Business Solutions, Inc.  Winners receive a $500 financial award and are recognized with a certificate at the ILA Annual Conference.

Presenter  Karen Snow is an Associate Professor and the PhD Program Director at the School of Information Studies at Dominican University.  This interactive workshop will move participants beyond the basics of Resource Description & Access (RDA) into more advanced cataloging territory. The instructor will cover RDA for “non-traditional” resources – games, kits, equipment, Playaways, and other non-book items. New MARC fields will be explained, and plenty of examples and activities will be provided to help empower participants to tackle cataloging their own troublesome resources!

Please note that there is a registration fee, which includes lunch: Members $30.00; Non-members $40.00. Assorted sandwiches and salads will be provided for lunch. Please contact us with any special food requirements.   Cancellations with refunds are possible up to a week before the program.
