LACONI Technical Services Section RDA program

RDA Book Cataloging with Chris Oliver

Friday, November 8, 2013 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Schaumburg Township District Library
130 South Roselle Rd., Schaumburg, IL 60193
Tel: (847) 985-4000

The workshop will focus on using RDA to catalog books, print and electronic. Chris Oliver will begin by looking at what makes RDA fundamentally different from AACR2. She will then look at the identification and description of books, concentrating on what is new, and outlining some of the major changes in access points.

Chris Oliver is the author of “Introducting RDA: a guide to the basics” (ALA, 2010). She is the Chair of the Canadian Committee on Cataloguing, one of the bodies involved in the development process for RDA. She has worked at the McGill University Library since 1989, always in the area of cataloging; she is currently Coordinator, Rare and Original Cataloguing.

To reserve your seat, register, and pay online with Eventbrite use the link at www.laconi.net or complete the attached form by mail.

The cost of this program is $30.00 for LACONI members and $40.00 for non-members (both include lunch). Contact Amy Weiss at aweiss@woodridgelibrary.org if you have any questions.
